Things to see this weekend
You have already been subjected to at least a hundred views on tv, posters and web sites what movies to watch this weekend. Here at Starting Out London we will take a step away from that heavily beaten track and talk about where you can find old movies to watch in a cinema.
While it may not be the first obvius choice when deciding to go out and pay for a movie, there is a big advantage to watch old movies at the cinema, even if you already seen them two, three times on telly or DVD or even VHS (and why not BetaMax while we are taking the trip down memory lane) and that is the opportunity to see them as they were meant to be seen. Imagine that you by some unfortunate stroke of misfortune were unable to see Avatar at the cinemas or some other really amazing movie and that the chance would be lost forever. Well there is one place where you can see old movies in theatres again.
Where is a place called BFI (
British Film Institute) the name might not sound to impressive amongst the people that don’t know the name but to put your mind at ease and even make you a bit excited even they are the ones that control the biggest movie screen in Europe –
IMAX.
You best have a look at their web site as reviewing and writng about all that they show would take to long and have you sorting here and Reading this blog post all day than rather book a ticket and go see some good movies. Tune in to British Film Institute web site now and browse around because webknow you will be pleasantly surprised at what they have to offer.
In theatres we don’t have that much to offer, we at
Starting Out London have been a bit lazy so the first show we will see this year is Les Miserables or “le miz” as the more fancy people like to call it.
At this writing moment we haven’t been able to confirm if the theatre version of the 70’s movie Rocky Horror Picture Show still runs but if it does you best grab some tickets and fast because our consent here is that it is better than the film!
