Swedish Horror writer John Ajvide Lindqvist delighted by LET THE RIGHT ONE IN transfer to London’s West End

The critically-acclaimed South Bank Sky Arts award-winning production of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN will transfer to London’s West End on 26 March for a strictly limited season.

Based on the Swedish novel and cult-hit film by John Ajvide LindqvistLET THE RIGHT ONE IN will be the first show to play the recently refurbished and re-opened Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue.

“I’ve been lucky several times. I was lucky with Tomas Alfredssons movie adaptation of my debut novel, and the luck continued with Matt Reeves’ American remake. You might think that would have used up my luck, but no – the stage adaptation by The National Theatre of Scotland, that is now coming to West End, is a wonderful coming together of the two film versions, the book and some original additions. The unique possibilities that the theatre presents are fully explored and the limitations ignored by doing the impossible. Yes, the pool scene is included! The play looks like nothing I’ve ever seen before and it´s amazing what you can squeeze out of my little story if you have the talent. And some luck.”
The production marks the National Theatre of Scotland’s West End debut, and follows the show’s sell out success at the Royal Court Theatre.

Oskar is a lonely boy from a broken home. He’s bullied at school and is longing for friendship. Eli is a troubled girl who’s just moved in next door. She never goes to school and is compelled to fill an eternal emptiness. When a series of brutal killings plagues the neighbourhood, these two young misfits make a deep connection, sensing in each other a kindred spirit. But the shocking truth about Eli tests Oskar’s loyalty – and love – beyond all imaginable limits, in this chilling tale of loneliness, love and legend.

Reduced price previews run from 26 March to 5 April. The preview performances are priced at £10.00 off standard prices. Press night is on 7 April at 7:00pm. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN is not recommended for children under the age of 13.

The auditorium will feature a stunning new cyclorama designed by the show’s award-winning designer Christine Jones. Something of a design coup, this imaginative extension will take the world of the play into the auditorium itself, adding an immersive dimension to the event.
