ISL Surrey puts great emphasis on its Mother Tongue programme which forms an integrated and extensive part of the schools educational package. The school offers all students 5 sessions of instruction in their own Mother Tongue language. This ensures a strong language development overall, honors every student’s background and enables families with a beginning command of English, to express themselves fully in our International School.

Introduction.

Thank you for your interest in possibly joining our faculty at the International School of London in Surrey.

ISL Surrey is an independent International primary school. It lies in Woking in the heart of beautiful Surrey. Our location is attractive with lots of commuters taking advantage of an excellent connection into the centre of London.

Our main objective.

Together with ISL London and ISL Qatar, all ISL schools are driven with a passion to educate children of one world.  We aim to develop in each student a global outlook, which seeks to understand and appreciate the attitudes and values of others. We aim to nurture a deep curiosity for all that’s new and different.

Through our Mother Tongue programme, we respect very child’s identity and encourage children to progress in their language of origin and learn more about their own cultural background.

Our learning culture.

We welcome children of all nationalities into our school and offer a true International education through our International Primary Curriculum (IPC) programme.

Within the IPC, we encourage children to explore, question, experiment, build confidence and acquire independence.  At ISL Surrey, children quickly identify themselves as enthusiastic and effective learners, fully developing their unique skills and talents.

Our teaching.

We’re looking for teachers who will feel at ease in a learning culture in which we wish to focus on every individual child. Class sizes are restricted, a robust support system is in place but more importantly we work with teachers who show a strong commitment and who strive hard to meet the needs of every child’s learning.

Key phrases which highlight our approach are teaching according to the principles of the IPC, interactive learning, independent learning, cooperative learning and celebrating learning.

Experience with all of the above is not absolutely required. An open mindset and a strong ambition to learn and learn together are absolutely essential.

All teachers, regardless of age and experience, will be supported by an ISL Surrey teaching mentor/coach.
