More than 400 have already signed up for this ball and more are expected.
A bridge in the English and Swedish calendars, the Anglo-Swedish Society, has celebrated the strong bond between the two nations since 1918. Now, more than ever, it strengthens this tie by supporting scholarships of the arts.
The Society’s busy Events programme – upcoming and past – can be read in their Events section on The Anglo Swedish Society´s website. In collaboration with the other Swedish-related organisations in London, activities are also listed on SwedishLondon.com
The Society funds Swedish post-graduate students to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. It also pays for a glass and ceramics exchange programme between the Royal College of Art and Konstfack and a scholarship for a student from the Restaurant School at Nyköping to spend time at Heston Blumenthal’s world famous Fat Duck in Bray. Ad-hoc funding has gone to a team of English youngsters to compete in the world’s largest under-14s ice-hockey tournament and towards sending 135 English Scouts and Guides to Kalix in Northern Sweden.
Money is raised from individual and corporate donations.
ANYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN!
Our Patrons are King Carl Gustaf, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Swedish Ambassador
and the Society is a registered charity (number 289688) in the United Kingdom.
