Who we are

 

We are LondonSwedes – an online community for Swedes and Scandinavians in the UK. Members have signed up since 2003 to take part of news about our community and have received help and support during their time in the UK. We have hosted severals events over the years to make Swedes feel at home in London. We are a strong community were members and guests have shown genuin interest in being part of our forums and events.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

 

Registered Users

 

If you have registered on Londonsvenskar.com by creating a profile or signed up to our Newsletter to receive information, we will keep your data in our database until you ask to be removed as member. You can e-mail admin@londonsvenskar.com to get your data and all your comments and threads removed. We will be sending out max 6 emails per year with relevant information about the Swedish community in the UK, news about important topic such as Brexit and updates about upcoming events.

Facebook Forum users

If you have given your e-mail when asking to join any of our forum group on Facebook you have given your consent to receive a maximum of 6 emails per year from us with updates. You can at anytime unregister by e-mailing admin@londonsvenskar.com or press Unsubscribe in the Newsletters. There is no obligation for anyone to leave their e-mail, new members will be accepted anyway if they are relevant to our Forum groups.

 

Guests on our events

We have held events such as Midsummer, Crayfish Festivals, Lucia Celebrations, Christmas Brunches and movie nights over the last 6 years. Guests that have shown their interest to receive information on up-coming events will receive a maximum of 6 emails per year. In every email there is an opportunity to unsubscribe from our mailing list.

 

Comments and threads in Forum

Threads in the forums, however does not qualify as personal data. If you have posted any personal data in the forum a moderator can remove the specific information on request.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

 

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

 

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Your name and e-mail will be safe within LondonSwedes’ database and not shared with third parties.

 

How long we retain your data

All registered members, Facebook Forum members and event guests can ask us to delete all data upon request. Admin@londonsvenskar.com If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

 

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments in our forum, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

 

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
